Posted by | May 30, 2014 | Events | No Comments

This weekend, OCVR will be hosting a Hack-a-thon/Game Jam at Peoplespace to bring together designers, developers, makers, and educators for a weekend of VR development exploration. The mission is simple: Break into teams and try to use VR to create educational experiences.

RSVP Today!

Here is the proposed schedule for the weekend:

Sat Morning – Meet, brainstorm, and break into groups based on skills and experience.
Sat Afternoon – Work on prototypes in groups. (Possible side sessions for quick Unity tutorials for the uninitiated)
Sat Night – Keep working, tinkering, and iterating on prototypes. Around midnight, Peoplespace shuts down. If you are still working by then, we will kick you out! Go home and rest.
Sun Morning – Peoplespace opens at 8am. Coffee and donuts will help start the day.
Sunday – Keep working on iterating designs/builds. Experienced VR developers will come around to advise and assist groups on finishing projects. Around 5 we will all get together to share our ideas/designs with each other and pitch to a panel of judges.

Don’t have an Oculus development kit?

No worries! Oculus VR has graciously offered to lend us a few for developers to share.

Our Judges:

Andres Hernandez – Oculus VR
Morris May – Specular Theory

The winning team will win a FREE Oculus Development Kit 2 (DK2) along with the opportunity to demo at the OrangeCountyVR Booth at the Immersion 2014 expo June 6-7!
